I am in love with this fish-camp prefab dwelling designed by Rocio Romero. Would love to have one of these on the beach in Costa Rica...complete with fresh fried fish and cold beer. Dream...

In-Room Dining
To cap off, what was a very nice long Easter break, I enjoyed some in-room dining last night.
We'll start with Easter Sunday...all of my family got together as usual for a full day of watching the Master's Golf Tournament, playing ball outside {which thankfully didn't result in any injuries like normal - nope, I take that back - my sis-in-law did fall down as we were having sprinting races, brush it off, brush it off}...back to the topic at hand. We also participated in a vicious egg hunt, hey there was money hidden in some of the eggs - duh. Lastly, we filled our bellies with a dinner of good ol' southern bbq and slaw sandwiches, hushpuppies, potato salad, sweet beans {coco's recipe}, and a honey ham. All to be washed down with strawberry cake. It was so darn good!
End scene, cut to Monday...ok, so from the honey ham came what? Yep, a ham bone and what does one do with a ham bone? No, not what you are thinking. You make ham and bean soup out of it which is precisely what I did. Slaving over the stove for three hours produced the best soup I have ever made - even Chloe was lapping it up. The soup literally had 20 different kinds of dried beans in it, yeah fiber! Therefore I thought what better way to enjoy the best soup I have ever made? In room dining {see, this story has come full circle}. Is it weird to enjoy eating dinner on the comfort of your own bed? I think not.
Guess what's for dinner tonight? Beans, beans the musical fruit...

Mr. Sandman
Are you kidding me? I'm just...just...{speechless}. Andres Amador is an artist based in San Francisco and does the most amazing sand art, only to be washed away within hours. Like sands through the hourglass don't you think?

Orange Crush
I {heart} this 70's inspired skirt by Marc Jacobs. Just how tiny is this model's waist anyway? I think I would style it a bit different, probably just a good ol' Hanes ribbed tank and some vintage wooden beads...and flip flops, duh. I'm sure Mr. Jacobs would cringe at the thought, but in my mind, it's darling.

Dyeing For The Weekend
Don't you just love dyeing stuff? I broke out the dye kit I purchased last year from the after Easter clearance bin and Coco and I proceeded to create a rainbow of eggs and a fine centerpiece for the kitchen. Dyeing eggs certainly brings me back to my childhood in an instant, or maybe it was the very large glass of perfectly chilled pinot grigio that made me happily skip down memory lane. Yep, good weekend indeed!

Always Judge A Book By Its Cover
I have a date...this weekend! It's with my new beloved book that the postman just delivered {shout out to the USPS even if stamps are a whopping $0.45 now}. As you all know I'm addicted to Atomic Ranch, the magazine dedicated to all things mid-century modern. Anyway, the editors have just released their second coffee table book which I'm patiently waiting to dive into this weekend and read cover-to-cover. I guess you are technically suppose to leisurely thumb through a coffee table book while sipping a martini with your hair tied up in a vintage silk head wrap or something snazzy like that but not me. With pigtails in my hair, I will have every page cracked by Sunday.
Atomic Ranch coffee table book, I {heart} you, I really do - more so than an actual live romantic date {Tom Ford excluded}. This perhaps explains the very reason I am single.

Oh Happy Day
As I dragged my butt out of bed this morning {dreading, dreading, dreading Monday}, I came downstairs to start the daily fire drill to get Coco ready for school, me ready for work, blah, blah, blah. I must say though, I was instantly cheered by my colorful flower selection from the market yesterday as well as the one ray of sun coming through the kitchen.
In trying to keep a positive spin on things today, I think I'll look forward to a good lunch workout at the gym, maybe followed by Tom Yum soup for lunch, and a good magazine before bed tonight.
Things could be worse...I may not have picked those very flowers yesterday.

Candy Colored Bullseye
I {heart} this Target commercial - I love it, love it...thinkin' about being it for Halloween. The electric candy colored suits are gorgeous and the acrobats make my heart race like I just ate a pound of coffee grounds. Alouette, the French Canadian {eh} song of choice in the background sets a fantastic mood - the song is actually about plucking feathers from a lark - weird but dreamy.

Landscaper's Delight
So Coco surprised me with the landscaping plan for our new home-to-be {ya know, the 50's mid century mod...drool...}. We previously talked about what we would want our new backyard to be like and we came down to {drumroll...} a chicken and a pool. Yes folks, that's all we want in life. A couple of chickens for eggs with a sweet little coop, and a small pool. You can see in Coco's drawing, she placed herself in it with a look of terror on her face because she's actually scared when the chickens run after her, but I call that a good life lesson and just don't let them see the white's of your eyes. Run Coco, run...
Can chickens swim? We'll let you know...

Puff The Magic Clouds
Just think...above those cloud-filled skys outside, this is the view above it. Makes my day a bit better with that thought. I was cruising through pics on my phone and came across this one - I took it on a recent trip to Schenectady, NY {no it was not for pleasure but it did look a lot like the burbs of NC}.
Enjoy the view...
