Diamond In The Rough

She shoots and she scores! Coco and I headed to Concord on Memorial Day to check out the The Depot at Gibson Mill, a HUGE antique mall. The mid-century stars were all aligned and I scored a vintage...and authentic... Bertoia Diamond Chair! It still makes my heart race thinking about it. They retail around $1100 new and the vintage ones go for $500 minimum, but I scored this one for $186! O-M-G! Vintage is always the way to go when you are talking about mid-mod furniture, well that's my two cents anyway.

It's in super great condition and it is surprisingly really comfortable - doesn't feel at all like a torture chamber. Harry Bertoia designed this chair in 1952 and was a master when it came to space, form, and function. Now I just need to order a new Diamond Chair pad from Knoll so you don't get those weird marks that make the back of your legs look like a hopscotch board {whoa}!

The Depot at Gibson Mill was so much fun - it literally takes all day to go through there but they have fantastic vintage pieces crying out for a new home. They have everything from sign letters, to mason jars, to furniture, to vintage yarn spools. The Mill was a former textile mill and it's gorgeous inside with beautiful old wood floors and huge windows. They have a diner in the mill where {yes!} you can even buy beer or wine while perusing the aisles. I will be visiting again real soon as I had my eyes on several other items.

Diamonds really are a girl's best friend.

Putting the Fun in Fungi

Nothing says party like fugi.  I think this is so FUN {get it?...ok, I'm making myself sick with my stupid puns}.  Anyway, Williams-Sonoma {heart them} sells these logs that are inoculated {love saying that...inoculated} with shitake mushroom spores.  So you can order this log from them for under $30, soak it in water and you can harvest these delicious mushrooms every two to three months, for two to three YEARS {yes people, YEARS}!  It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Do you think they had this in the 60's and 70's....party!  I'm just sayin...

Sweet!

These huge Sweet Cakes from Dutch production designer Beerd Van Stokkum are super cool, obviously a cheeky nod to the fantastically beautiful cupcake liners - of course I want a set in pink. You can use these as planters, dog beds, sandboxes, tubs, etc., etc. I envision them on a front stoop with a mound of carnations or daisies in each or better yet tons of colorful plastic balls. Me want...me want bad...

Wallpaper Is The New Black

I cannot tell you how much I love this wallpaper - ok, yes I can, I LOVE THIS WALLPAPER! I typically haven't been a huge wallpaper fan, certainly over the last 10 years since I'm a minimalist at heart. However, there are some boys on the block knocking out some fantastic designs. My favorite being the people at Flavor Paper in Brooklyn. They have brought back the art of hand screening, as well as offering digital printed options, but their designs are just....{this is me speechless}. This particular flavor is Sassy Toile with electric raspberry ink screened onto a silver mylar - let me repeat myself in case you didn't get it the first time...silver mylar, holla! I wouldn't necessarily put this in a whole room but a huge wall of it would be...{me speechless yet again}. This will definitely be going in my future atomic ranch...or my surf shack that I dream of getting in Costa Rica...I'm just sayin'.

Flavor Paper has so many great designs that I think I could have a different wallpaper of theirs on each wall and be perfectly happy. My daughter, Chloe-Bell {you'll learn she has many nicknames} is digging the Cherry Forever paper, you must take a look. Be sure to click on all the links (candy colored text) in this post as you won't be disappointed. My Adidas

Meet my newest purchase, My Adidas {original clamshells to be exact}. Run DMC, straight from Hollis, Queens, represents one of the few great 80's flashbacks for me. In my humble opinion, they put Adidas on the map...come on, they loved the Adidas brand so much that they wrote a timeless rhyme about them. I loved my previous white on white pair so much that I had to drain my pockets, and my daughter's lunch money, and buy another pair yet going old school black and white this time. I can't figure out why they come with shoelaces however.

Light My Fire

Baby you can light my fire with this H-O-T chandelier! This is the Murano Chandelier available through Design Within Reach for the low down price of $2,900. OK, it would be a serious splurge but hey, it is produced on the island of Murano using traditional glass forging and blowing techniques. Super cool in a dining room...super hot in the bedroom!

Soap Does A Body Good

Have some good clean fun with this soap by Pop Ink. One of my favorite designers, Charles S. Anderson, has teamed up with one of my most favorite paper companies, French Paper, to launch the Pop Ink products. Their goal is to "create saccharine sweet, slightly disturbing yet strangely compelling art and artifacts for the (post) modern world."

The soap is made in the USA with triple-milled, all-natural essential oils, with a fresh verbena/lavender scent. This is my favorite entitled Skinny Dip #2.

I'm Only Happy When It Rains

Yes, I will be purchasing these hella cool Chooka rain boots today. These are entitled Tattoo City. I'm seeing these paired with a dark slate grey pencil skirt and fitted black tee. What do you think?

p.s. They also offer kids sizes...yep, I think my 5-year old daughter Chloe would be singing in the rain in these!
